Welcome to the scholarship application page for SIP2025. This year we will offer scholarships to support either (1) the attendance to the Biopharmaceutical Summer Academy course at the University of Connecticut or (2) financial aid for travel expenses for the SIP2025 conference. To promote diversity among the field of statistics, applicants who come from underrepresented communities will be given priority during the scholarship selection process. Final decisions will be made at the sole discretion of the SIP award committee.

Gogoate Lemea received his BA in Biological Sciences before jumping into the analytical world, and is currently an MA student in Biostatistics at the University at Buffalo. His goal is to become a statistician at a pharmaceutical or biotech company.
Yunyi Wang is a Ph.D. candidate in Biostatistics at UTHealth Houston. She is a UConn alumnus and holds an M.S. in Biostatistics. Her research focuses on survival analysis methods, specifically in data integration and dynamic prediction.
Dennis Baidoo is a recent MS graduate in Statistics from the University of New Mexico, with a BS in Statistics and Mathematics from the University of Ghana. He aims to build a career as a medical statistician, building and applying statistical methods to advance clinical research.
Anika Islam is an MPH student in Epidemiology and Biostatistics at Drexel University, where she recently earned her Bachelor’s degree in Public Health. Her research interests lie at the intersection of health informatics, healthcare management, and epidemiology. She hopes to pursue a career as a health informationist or epidemiologist in the pharmaceutical industry.
Shrijana Gautam is a master’s student in Biostatistics at the University of Connecticut (graduating in August 2025) . With a solid foundation in statistical methodologies and hands-on experience, she brings a growing passion for data-driven decision-making in public health. Shrijana is particularly interested in the application of biostatistics within clinical research and its critical role in improving health outcomes.
Oluwafunto Aladekomo is a PhD student in Biostatistics and Data Science at UTHealth Houston, with a Master’s in Biostatistics from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. She is passionate about bridging lived experiences with scientific evidence to address health disparities and access to care. Her growing interest lies in how statistical thinking informs drug development and more inclusive healthcare solutions.
Yuzhou Peng is a master student in Biostatistics at Brown University. She is passionate about survival analysis and Bayesian causal inference, and is eager to apply these methods to improve health outcomes through data-driven research.
Maame Duah is a recent graduate with an MPH in Biostatistics from NYU School of Global Public Health. With a deep passion for research, she aspires to build a career as a biostatistical consultant, focusing on improving public health outcomes.
Kejin Dong is a rising senior double majoring in Physics and Statistics at the University of Florida. My research interests are machine learning methodologies and its applications in public health, and I plan to pursue a PhD in biostatistics after graduation.
Wasiuddin Najam is a Ph.D. student in Epidemiology and Biostatistics with a minor in Bioinformatics. He is a Fulbright alumnus and holds PharmD and MS in Nutritional Sciences degrees. His research interests include methodological and clinical studies concerning nutrition and drugs in relation to metabolic diseases and aging.
Abraham Adokwei is a third year PhD Epidemiology and Biostatistics student at the University of Georgia. He is interested in developing a career as a Clinical Biostatistician.
